Owner’s Task:
To restore 3,000 feet of degraded stream feeding into Rock Castle Creek, to improve bank stability and ecological function. Specifically, to prevent years of erosion from both adjacent commercial parking lots and City drainage systems that were inundating and damaging the stream.
Shamrock Solution:
Used Natural Channel Design to restore the stream and improve water quality. Shamrock re-designed the project with cost effective rock walls and safe/stable slopes along properties adjacent to the stream, safeguarding existing homes and businesses.
Benefit to the Customer:
Aesthetically pleasing refurbished stream and creek, raising water quality within the watershed. Cost effective methods used to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment loads in stream. Reduced the potential for short term and long term damage to the stream from the existing runoff from the businesses in the area.
